A tragic loss

Our co-founder, Marion O'Gorman, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Saturday 18th July 2009.
Marion O'Gorman, who co-founded the charity with her husband Eddie, died after a short illness.
After her son Paul was lost to the disease, aged just 14, Marion was actively involved with the charity and was dedicated to raising funds for the research and treatment of childhood leukaemia. She served as a trustee of the charity for 21 years and helped raise over £110 million to save young lives.
Chief Executive Caroline Blakely said "We are deeply saddened by the sudden death of Marion O'Gorman. Through the work of the charity they founded, Marion and Eddie have helped change the lives of thousands of children, many of whom have already benefited from their tireless commitment and dedication. Marion's gentle compassion and dignity will continue to inspire our work for many years to come.
Our heartfelt condolences and most sincere sympathies go to Eddie and the O'Gorman family, as we all come to terms with this tragic loss."
