We are very grateful to the members of our Scientific Advisory Committee who generously give their time and share with us their internationally recognised expertise on childhood leukaemia.
The role of the committee includes helping the Trustees to direct our research programme by setting our research priorities on the basis of current thinking and new developments within the field.
The full terms of reference are given below.
From 1st November 2007 the Committee will meet twice a year.
Remit:
- To maintain a strategic overview of direction of charity’s research programme.
- To carry out an annual review of research priorities and set parameters for annual grants rounds.
- To convene review panels for grants rounds – which should contain two or more members of the Committee plus relevant external members.
- To make recommendations to trustees based on reports from review panels.
- To participate in the review of progress reports from grant holders.
- To lead review process for programme grant renewal.
- To agree key messages of charity and have a medical/scientific input to the charity’s publicity materials.
- To act as advisors to staff and trustees for the purpose of keeping information and key facts and figures up to date.
- Chairman or deputy to attend for part of Trustee Meetings to present Committee’s reports.
