As well as directly funding research, we have a key role in disseminating the results so that information is shared by researchers around the world.
In April 2008 we published Does Infection Cause or Prevent Childhood Leukaemia? - A review of the scientific evidence.
The report reviews the evidence from studies that have investigated a link between infection and childhood leukaemia.
It is co-authored by CHILDREN with LEUKAEMIA staff scientists Drs Kirsten Edgar and Adrienne Morgan.

International Scientific Conferences
In September 2004 we hosted the first-ever international conference on the causes of childhood leukaemia.
This conference attracted delegates and speakers from leading research centres around the world. These scientists shared their findings and exchanged expert views, all with one purpose in mind – the prevention of childhood leukaemia.
The follow-up to this conference was held in April, 2008. Childhood Leukaemia: Causes and Prevention focused on environmental risk factors in the development of leukaemia. 120 scientists from around the world participated.Read more about our International Scientific Conferences
January 2008
We are proud and pleased to have been welcomed as the 21st member of the National Cancer Research Institute (NCRI) partnership - the first partner with a focus on childhood cancers, in particular childhood leukaemia.

The Childhood Leukaemia International Consortium (CLIC) met in San Francisco on 14th November 2007.
The CLIC is bringing together scientists who work on childhood leukaemia from all over the world to try and work out what causes childhood leukaemia.
We are supporting this excellent international endeavour by providing US$20,000 to fund the first two meetings of the CLIC’s members.

'Immunity and Infection in the Etiology of Leukemia' Workshop.
This workshop focused on the current evidence relating to the role of immunity and infection in the causation of childhood leukaemia. It gave the opportunity for presentations and discussions on the latest international research.

In 2005 we published Do Electric and Magnetic Fields Cause Childhood Leukaemia?, a review of the scientific evidence relating to electric and magnetic fields and their role in the development of childhood leukaemia.
Co-author and CHILDREN with LEUKAEMIA staff scientist Dr Adrienne Morgan was awarded runner-up for Parliamentary Science Writer of the Year for this review.
