Communicating research findings

science conference

We host and support conferences on both causes and treatments for childhood leukaemia.

Our international scientific conferences

In September 2004 we hosted the first-ever international conference on the causes of childhood leukaemia. It attracted delegates and speakers from leading research centres around the world.

These scientists shared their findings and exchanged expert views, all with one purpose in mind – the prevention of childhood leukaemia.

The follow-up to this conference was held in April 2008. 'Childhood Leukaemia: Causes and Prevention' focused on environmental risk factors in the development of leukaemia. 120 scientists from around the world participated.

Supporting other scientific conferences

As well as running our own bi-annual conference, we also provide funding to support a number of other conferences on aspects of childhood leukaemia, including both its causes and its treatment.

We have recently helped fund the following conferences:

  • Association of Radiation Research annual meeting.
  • The International Paediatric Haematology and Oncology Update Meeting.
  • International BFM Study Group annual meeting.
  • The Molecular basis of childhood leukaemia conference at the Institute of Child Health.
  • The annual National Cancer Research Institute Cancer Conference.
