CHILDREN with LEUKAEMIA organised the first-ever International Scientific Conference into the causes and prevention of childhood leukaemia in 2004.
The five-day conference grabbed headlines in the national press, as well as generating extensive TV and radio coverage.
A follow-up to this conference was held in April 2008. Childhood Leukaemia: Causes and Prevention focussed on environmental risk factors in the development of Leukaemia.Read more about our 2004 Scientific Conference

In 2003 Chris Tarrant spearheaded our largest ever Christmas appeal which not only raised an unbelievable £3.4 million for our work but also increased awareness of leukaemia.
A survey showed that people who received the appeal were twice as likely to name leukaemia as Britain’s biggest child-killer disease.

In 2004 Lloyd Scott undertook the world’s first underwater marathon, walking 26 miles under Loch Ness to launch our Cheeky Monkey’s Children’s Challenge! The story made front page around the country and even became a ‘bong’ on News at Ten.
