MPs put pressure on Government
A study funded by the Department of Health and published in 2005 reported that children living near high voltage power lines had an increased risk of developing childhood leukaemia.

MSPs push for new laws on powerlines
In 2006 CHILDREN with LEUKEAMIA gave a series of presentations at the second meeting of the Scottish Parliamentary Cross Party Group on electromagnetic radiation and health.
We gave the MSPs an overview of the scientific evidence concerning the link between power lines and childhood leukaemia. We also examined the legal and planning issues and presented the MSPs with the results of a public opinion survey in Scotland on the topic.
In 2007 Keith Brown MSP tabled a Motion in Scottish Parliament calling for the Minister for Public Health to investigate the association between high voltage power lines and childhood leukaemia, and to take action to safeguard Scotland’s citizens from this risk.Click here to read the Motion in full (PDF format, 69k)Read more about our current campaigns
