Tarrant's Quiz Party 2009

Date: Thursday 30th April 2009

Chris Tarrant hosted this wonderful evening for the second year. It's a non-stop evening of fun, singing and dancing - so not your usual sort of quiz at all!

Quite how Chris had any energy - or voice - left to be on the radio at 6.00am the following day is a mystery.

So much money raised.
This Quiz Party raised over £160,000 to help children with leukaemia. Thank you to everyone who contributed so generously. We're confident that Jeremy Beadle, who created and hosted our Quiz Party for so many years, would be thrilled at its continued success.

There were some wonderful auction items and very generous guests. £3,000 was bid for four tickets to see U2 play at Wembley, £1,000 for a signed photo of McFly and £2,750 for a three night stay at any hotel in the Small Luxury Hotels of the World collection.

£2,000 was paid for two tickets to the first day's play against the West Indies at Lords, donated by Chris himself, as he had the tickets but couldn't go. Here's the Prize Brochure showing all the auction items (PDF 1140KB New window will open) 

Our famous friends.
Some of our famous friends came too, including pr guru Max Clifford; The Bill's Graham Cole and his actress daughter, Laura; boxer Lloyd Honeyghan; Tiswas presenter Sally James; author Kevin Lewis; Simon Milton from ITFC; cricketer Gladstone Small and Eastenders actor David Spinx.

Who won?
Fortis Bank narrowly beat Sue Beadle's table, so taking the trophy from Robert Goodman Associates, winners for the previous two years.
