Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children desperately needs to expand its crucial in-patient facilities.
Sir Trevor McDonald OBE is heading our appeal to fund a new 17 bed in-patient children's cancer ward.
More and more children from all across the UK are being treated at Great Ormond Street. The hospital treats one in 10 of all children with leukaemia and is the national co-ordinator of treatment for every child under one.
This rise in demand means that Great Ormond Street must accomodate 60% more children than in previous years. Although the NHS will pay for every child to be treated, it cannot fund the extra space needed.
We have already made a major difference to the day care facilities for children with cancer at Great Ormond Street. With our help, the new Safari Day Care Ward opened on the 9th February, 2008. and will treat 2,500 sick children every year.
We have now pledged to create a new 17 bed, in-patient children's cancer ward in addition to the 20 beds already available.
Please support our appeal so that more children from across the UK can receive their treatment at Great Ormond Street.
For donations of £25 or more we’ll happily send you a signed, colour photo of Sir Trevor McDonald as an extra special thank you!
